RESISTING ARREST
Resisting Arrest, Defined:
Who ever shall resist, obstruct or oppose a law enforcement officer in the lawful execution of any legal duty, without violence, is guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by up to 1 year in jail. If violence is alleged, the offense is elevated to a felony, punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
Often a catch-all offense charged when a confused or agitated suspect decides not to cooperate with law enforcement who have made them the subject of their attention.
